I wish she was mine for keeps (couldn't believe how soft her fur was - usually farm animals are really coarse), but I was actually just visiting an agricultural exhibition. Free admission this year, so I skipped the rides and went straight to the horsie barn. :D It's the only time I get to see animals other than neighborhood dogs, or yard critters I probably shouldn't chase anyway lol. Once I upload some pics and videos, I'll post them here. I met this magical little alpaca named Pedro who cooed and hummed while he ate. Wish I'd gotten the big horse madly licking my arm, but it was hard to concentrate on all the cuteness while being covered in goat feed and trying to aim the camera somewhat. Thankfully with teh baby goat, a girl I guess affiliated with the farm who provided the animals was happy to take my picture for me, even though I was dripping with sweat and feeling more than disgusting - couldn't miss out on a moment like that. :P

People can still visit Jesse and I for squeeing, though! :cheerleader: We can find other bbs for ya too, this town is almost nothing but churches, farms, and fisheries. :P

Yeah, I tried that *E*. Didn't seem to be working. Strange.

I don't understand the difference between youtube and youtu.be, but it's probably that.

Eru, you probably need to get the long-form link. You have to click more options and then tick the box for it, which is kind of annoying.

Goats are the best, I wish I could see them more often.

So, I read in one of Cesar Millan's books that dogs get more confidence if they have a job to do, and one way of doing that is to have them carry stuff in a specially-made backpack for dogs. Consequently, in my ongoing struggles with Sam's hang-ups I got him a back-pack for him to carry stuff in. I don't know if it helped, or if he's just improving with all the ongoing work we've been doing, but we had our first session at an off-leash park in Montreal today, and it actually went well! There was none of that nervous agression he too often displays.

And here he is proudly modelling his new fashion accessory:

So what does he carry in the pack? (I've seen people doing this at our park.) He does look very purposeful and handsome.

Spare poop bags, my camera, a grooming brush (better outside than inside! you should see the dog hair I have to contend with) and whatever we need for a long excursion - we've been tending to take long, long exploratory walks around the city, which may also account for his behaviour improvement.

Edit: the poop bags are of course un-used. Once used, they go straight into the bin. I just thought I'd clarify :D

:D I figured, but clarification is always good. Our park stocks degradable poop bags, so you can just toss them into the woods.

I think it's cool that he's helping you all out on your explorations.

:LMAO: My eyes played a trick on me and at first I read, "the poop bags are of course re-used" :LMAO: :LMAO:
I had a micro second of shock,"That's taking recycling too far!" and then I read it correctly. :)

Yay, Sam has a job!

We went to the dog park again yesterday, and once again Sam behaved like a mature responsible adult. In fact, he interacted positively with some dogs he'd never met.

Can it really be that this back-pack has solved all his problems? Is it really that simple?

Probably that's too optimistic, but it's definitely made a difference.

What's in the bag? And what gave you the idea to use it?

I got the idea from Cesar Millan, and it's just various accessories in the bag - camera, spare unused poop bags, a map of Montreal, and whatever I think we'll need en route.

Interesting. What's the theory? It makes him feel important? Or just drains some energy? Obviously it helped, I'm just wondering why/
