Also called Combat Mission, this book was quite a gripping read! Set in southeast France in 1944, it had enough of the war and a great love triangle that soured relationships and ended badly for everyone. After I read it, there was an explanation about the book title change when a movie named Kings Go Forth starring Natalie Wood, Tony Curtis, and Frank Sinatra was released. I rented the DVD, and the movie was quite good, but they had made a slight change in event sequencing that changed the story from a dark one to one with a glimmer of hope. It was a good movie, but The darkness of the book is better.
