That's near my hometown and about 3 hours from where I live now! (It made the news over there? Cool!) I'm assuming you're talking about the girls they found in Cleveland after 10 years. It's a sex trafficking case, I'm sure. I am
thrilled that they found them.
I am hoping that this will open people's eyes to the enormity of sex/human trafficking that goes on around us. This is my newest social cause. (I don't mean it to sound like I go from cause to cause. It's just this is new on my radar, and I'm getting involved with several local community groups to do what we can to help the victims and educate the public.)
I won't get on my soapbox too much, though.
I posted this story on the rescue on the Love146 page:
Girls Rescued
On April 2, 2004, 14-year-old DeJesus went missing while walking home from Wilbur Wright Middle School. She was last seen around West 105 Street and Lorain Avenue. Her mother, Nancy Ruiz, said she believed DeJesus was sold into human trafficking.
"I always said it from the beginning; she was sold to the highest bidder," Ruiz said in April 2012.
There are resources to help these girls heal. I hope they are connected to them as soon as possible.
