It's better than many regular, prehumous fantasy books, too. ;)

I've been keeping my eyes open in used book shops and it's fairly rare to find a Pratchett HC in TX and OK. I did find one recently though, titled Raising Steam. My favorites I've read have been starring Vimes. Though, Unseen Academicals was pretty good too.

The Long Cosmos is coming out next July. I wonder how much of it is Pratchett.

I'm guessing none at all. Is he actually listed as a co-author?

I believe he is, but that could just mean that they worked out a plot together.

I don't think he was involved in the last two either, apart from writing the original short story upon which the entire series was based.

I haven't read Long Mars, but Long War had a lot of Pratchett, even if some of it was easily recognizable from a Discworld story.

I finally read the collection of Pratchett short stories, A Blink of the Screen (only 4 years late? :) ), and enjoyed it very much. An interesting collection - everything from straight science fiction to Discworld stories to a poem. The early short story that grew into The Long Earth series is in there.

The shop had the nonfiction collection, A Slip of the Keyboard, too. I skimmed a couple of the selections and decided I wasn't very interested. But I might be wrong. Has anyone read it?

These people did a recording of All The Little Angels for the Glorious 25th of May. The melody is not at all what I had imagined, but it is very, very good.

Also, someone suggested casting Idris Elba old Vimes and John Boyega as young Vimes, and I am liking more by the second.

Are they actually planning to make a movie?

Not that I know, although the Watch TV series is still apparently possible. Just fan casting.

I'm reading "Sourcery" again for the first time in ages. I've forgotten how great this early Pratchett book is, and fortunately I've also forgotten how it turns out, so it's like reading it again for the first time.

It's also affecting my dreams. Last night Willow and I were escaping from the Witch-King of Angmar, and were aided by a rather striking-looking barbarian girl who also happened to be a hairdresser.

Nice. I've had a few Marvel dreams lately.

Sourcery is a great take on identity vs. background vs. perception.

I love the one where one of the (future) witches can sing harmony with herself and is in a production of Phantom of the Opera! Maskerade maybe?

Yes, that's Maskerade.

Wee Free Men is 1.99 on Kindle today.

Wee Free Men made me laugh SO hard! :LMAO:

I really would like to read more Pratchett, but library space is something of a problem. I do have a Kindle, though, so that would be a good alternative.

Sunny, I have them all on kindle. I have quite a few of my early hardbacks as well, but I re-read the kindle editions; easier to keep on hand, and much cheaper!

So I see that The Long Cosmos is already out in the US. We have to wait until the 26th. Anyone read it yet?

That's one that would make a great stage production or movie. All you need is a great soundtrack.

Oh, and an extremely large leading actress with great voice who doesn't mind being cast because of her weight.

Alatar, if you ever decide to produce this, I volunteer to compose the music
