Apparently... all country music songs are exactly the same!

Oh lord. I have a co-worker who sometimes plays country radio in his office, quietly but just loud enough for me to hear next door, and while I know that "it all sounds the same" is an argument always used against genres you don't like, radio country takes it to a crazy literal level! When you can't quite hear the lyrics, I'd swear a third of the songs on the radio use nearly the exact same chorus. Sometimes you can even hum along to songs you've never heard before. It's ridiculous and I hate it! :x

I'm trying to be nice and not let him know how much I hate his taste in music. :P

That was hilarious and terrible all at the same time! :LMAO:

And, like Al said, that's some nice editing work! That kind of work is tedious but fun, and that's way beyond anything I've ever done.

And boy do I hate country music!

(We do not discuss that period in my 20s. We all make mistakes when we're young and foolish.) :uhoh:

I've been known to tune to a country station on the radio, but it absolutely does all sound the same. :blackeye:

BTW, I know some folks here read Elisabeth Peters, and in Night Train to Memphis (of Vicky Bliss series) this is actually a plot point.

Any other fans of the McGarrigle sisters out there? I just rediscovered them - I remember hearing them when I was a kid (I think my parents had one of their records).

I avoid Country Music! It's at least 70% of the radio stations around here. My pre-set stations in my car are set to about the only five stations around that aren't Country (Hard Rock, Classic Rock, Pop plus 90s, Pop, NPR). However, I do like some Johnny Cash and some occasional John Denver. :)

There are some acceptable exceptions. :D

John Denver is one.

One of my all-time favourite tenors: today is Joseph Schmidt's 112th birthday.

During the 30's he was one of the most popular radio stars. He was actually under five feet tall. This was an issue on stage, but not in recordings and radio.

Unfortunately his career and his life were cut short by the Nazis - he was in France when they invaded. He attempted to escape to Cuba but unfortunately didn't make it. He just barely made it to the Swiss border and was interned in a refugee camp. He seems to have caught an infection there, was treated in the local hospital but died after being discharged.

Listen to his awesomeness:

Just wondering, what do you all think of this band? The singer is a good friend of mine, but I honestly have no idea how good or bad this is, since it's so far from the stuff I normally listen to.

I'd describe that as Ska, pretty good, but I'm afraid your friend is the weakest part of the group. His tuning is poor.

100% ska (which has not been fashionable for 20 years :P). I disagree with Al on the singer (as we often do when it comes to music :)). His voice has got character which, in the world of rock music, is way more important than being technically strong.

It's kind of fun. It's the type of music I would listen to for a short while and then be ready to take a break from it. I would agree with Al and yovi. He isn't technically an awesome singer, but his voice works with this music.

You really need to link Google Doodles. They aren't the same everywhere!

Okay. I had to google how to link to google doodles (how's that for a self-reference?) and came up with this:

Frelga was right!

Edit: looking at the map, it seems that it wasn't shown in the States. I wonder why?
