I just caught the pilot of this show, a drama about a blinded cop returning to work. I particularly liked how the show demonstrated how he percieved the world, and how his job skills had and hadn't changed due to his new disability. (i.e. a crime scene is established with a normal wide shot -- then with glimpses: the empty, bare room with no one in it (he can hear echoes that give him the sense of a large, 'live' room), the sunlight streaming through windows on one side of the room (temperature), the body (smell, the center of activity in the room, his partner's description of it), the people in the room appearing as isolated flashes in the empty room -- a person walking (the sounds of footsteps), two cops discussing the scene (sound) etc. All of this, of course, in a visual medium (tv.) Very smart.)

Did anyone else see this? What did you think of it?

Intriguing. And the reaction too. Good analysis on the part of the reviewers.

This series is also surprisingly visually beautiful: the color of the wife's shirt in the first episode, although opposite on the color wheel, harmonized with the color of the kitchen wall. In the second episode rain falling on a leaf colored the leaf, as the sound of it striking and dripping allowed the protagonist to "see" the leaves in a rainy park at night.

I spend most crime dramas wincing and covering my eyes (I have little taste for the morbid or gruesome), it's pleasant to have a show one's invited to look at.
