Awwwwwww!!!!! Thanks Silwen, you are very kind :)
These are Polish/Ukrainian style "Pisanki" or decorated Easter Eggs.
The technique used with these is basically wax resist. I have a little wax wand implement (think a little wooden stick, small pencil lengh, hole at the end that holds a tiny down-pointing copper cone/funnel, strapped into place with copper wire.). I also have a blob of wax that comes in a little "cake" that looks exactly like a reese's peanut butter cup shape-wise.
You need a candle for this, and some paper towels.
You scoop up some hard wax into the cone, and warm the wand over the candle flame... then make designs on the egg with the wand (tip of the cone leaks molten wax in a thin stream). What you cover with wax will stay the colour under the wax. Then you proceed to dye the egg in various colours (the dyes are powders or tablets you dissolve in boiling water with a spoonful of vinegar, and the eggs are dipped into the jars/bowls of dye for several minutes to take up the given colour). The best dyes I have used came from a specialty Ukrainian store here...but the ones I used this year were polish and german Easter Egg dyes that I got at an all purpose European deli around Easter.
With several steps, coats of dye and re-waxing, you can get very intricate patterns. You then gently melt off the wax over a candle flame and rub off with a paper towel. :)
Sounds complex and its awkward to put in writing, but its really no difficult science. Takes patience and its easy to screw up, but its fun to do. :)

I understand what you wrote, so no worries. ;) Now I'm ready for Easter next year! I'd love to try that technique then (I showed your pics to my mother and she said, "Well, then you better start right away if you want to get done in time!")

I see you've got Arwen's sword! *jealous, jealous* The most beautiful sword around.

Not mine, its my honey's, :P, he collects them...has a hefty set... Im pretty sure this one is actually Elrond's sword, but its nice, yes, and the two are quite similar... the lighter elvish ones are the few I can actually "wield" without it hurting my wrists... :LMAO:

Good luck with the Eggs when you try them ;)
I dont know where you are located...if in Europe getting this stuff shouldnt be a problem... You could even make your own wax wand I suppose.
The Ukrainians traditionally call it a "kistka".

There are some great sites that give the basics on how to make these and provide some patterns to get started with...too tired now but I can PM the links to you in a bit ;)

That would be great! I live in Germany, so I am sure I can easily get the material somewhere!

See, I never had the patience for those kind of pisanki. :p Also I always do mine at the last minute (ergo, an hour before we're off to church for Święcone)

Here is a Spring flowering bonsai. It is a Japanese quince. I grew it from seed and it is growing over a rock. It is 28 years old and I made the pot to a suggested design of a Japanese bonsai teacher.

Today, I was in a VERY boring work seminar. Fortunately, I had a notepad and a pencil so I could pass my time doodling - you can see the results here:

Brook
Cats
Daisies
Face
Girl
Pond
Rosehips

Far from professional level, but anyway...

I like the cats! :D

It would be cool to see the Brook and Pond with some color. :)

Thanks, Eru. :)

I'll try and make coloured versions of those two at some point.

My left hand hurts like heck from a rather nasty reaaction to some Poison Ivy, which makes typing a pain. I can still do things with Paintshop though. :D

Hey, not too shabby! :D Did you have to cut out Eliot and ET on the bike, paste the tennis ball and then repaste Eliot and ET? I'm just curious if there's a better way to do that sort of thing.

My latest paintshop work was fixing Lidless's avatar. He had this one up:

The coloring on the woman totally didn't match, so I tried my hand at making them better. I did okay:

I had an unedited copy of the poster off to the side; I pasted the tennis-ball in, did a 'save as', then copied ET's arm and the bike in.

You were using Adobe photoshop right?

The only way I've figured out how to do something like that with Paintshop is to painstakingly use the freehand selection tool to carefully draw a line all the way around what I want to copy. It takes a lot of time.

I bet Photoshop has a better way of doing. I have Photoshop, but I can't access the help files which is really freakin' frustrating! :x

Eru, have you looked up problems on the internet? I bet there's lots of information out there about Photoshop. Otherwise, feel free to ask, if I don't know, I enjoy learning how to do new things with it.

Yep, yep, yep. That's how I did it.

Ah, you're using the same program I am ttbk. :D How did you do the letters? :)

Rebecca, does Photoshop have an online help file? For some reason, whenever I try to go to the help file, this sbc yahoo connect to the internet thing comes up. I don't know what's going on at all.

Eru, when I open the help file it opens it in my web browser, but it doesn't have a url or anything. If you google Photoshop and help it brings up lots of tutorial pages and such, if that helps.

What version of Photoshop do you have?

I used the eye-dropper thingie to get the right colors, then painted them in. (or for the "E", changed it into a T)
