I second Holby's idea. That will surely raise the necessary funds.

[Athrabeth], I can sympathize with you on that. I was one of the head editors of my school's literary magazine in my last year there. It was my friend and I shouldering everything and yet people would ask me questions like "where are the submissions" and I'd respond "YOU have to submit them, I can't make them appear out of my ass." That being said, it is one of the unfortunate realities of committees and organizations. Some shoulder the weight and decide the course of actions, yet some do not and still get a voice. I don't think we'll have too much of a problem with that here, though. I think we have enough contributing members who will generally outvote the once-in-a-while members (in future mostly).

Being a juror and/or admin is possibility for voting rights, but even in real life, serving on a jury does not preclude citizenship (in America at least), but it is a duty of being a citizen. That being said, I would not agree to juror/admin service as necessary for voting rights.

:scratch

Looks high and low for Anthy dear.....doesn't see her anywhere...

TED I believe you were referring to 'Beth honey.

Here let me explain...

Anthriel = Anth, Anthy, The Raccoon Hater, The Cookie Monster, and a whole bunch of other names that decorum prohibits me from discussing here.

Athrabeth = Ath, 'Beth, "Beth Honey, The Way, and another whole bunch of names besides.

One should never confuse the two. They do that enough for everyone.

Oh and 'Beth Honey, you ain't fooling me. You would be the first in line.

Thanks for the sm000ch Prim, but that was a counterfeit five you took. :P

I agree it does need to rerail, but at least nobody is yelling at anyone.
Consider it a comedic interlude, and now back to your regulary scheduled program...

So how feasible would it be to set up a site that resided in the Caymans?
I guess you can do all sorts of stuff via the internet if you are based in the Caymans. Gambling etc. Apparently they have different laws, and perhaps the lawsuit issue would go away.

Also, it'd be a wonderful place for m77ts.

Yes, I did mean Athrabeth. Thanks for catching that.

Quietly slips into the thread. Hugs, Prim, Ath, Viv, Eru, Nin, Rodia, Frelga, Pips the snesible, Wampuscat, laureanna and (last but not least) Samaranth. Kisses Holby on both cheeks, just to annoy him. Gives Alatar, Ang, TED (and Guru) manly handshakes

I do want to clarify that I never said that I was leaving board77 or even this thread. That having been said, I did overreact to Guru's comment. I was (and to some extent still am) shocked by it both because of the language used and at the extent at which his interpretation of the discussion up to that point differed from my own. He has apologized and I have accepted the apology and that is the end of that.

But my initial reaction really had nothing to do with being personally offended by Guru's comment. My reaction was more like "do I really want to make such a significant contribution to a place at which this type of thing can happen." To a certain extent, the type of strong language that Guru used is encouraged here (or at least not actively discouraged as in other places). We do have some vague rules in place about being respectful to each other, and I do think that most people do treat each other respectfully, but the level of courtesy directed towards both members and non-members has sometimes fallen below that which I would hope for. Guru's post really brought that to the forefront of my mind, and made me wonder whether I had been precipitous in making the offer that I made.

And there is the fact that Lidless has still not responded to my suggestion. I must admit that is weighing heavily on my mind. Although I am holding on to the hope that he has gone out of town and doesn't have internet access, no one seems to have knowledge of him doing so. I fear I have greatly offended him by making this suggestion, and that saddens me greatly.

Finally, there are some issues that hopefully will be discussed in the committee that will likely effect whether I would be willing/able to make this committment. I should have thought of that when I made the flat out offer that I made. You'd think I would have thought that through first, but I did not. I apologize.

Here is how I would like to leave it. If Lidless agrees that he is willing to give up ownership of the board77.com site to a member-owned arrangement, and we are able to resolve all of the governance issues in the committee, I will be willing to go ahead with my promise to set up the non-profit corporation. Fair enough?[/i]

To the best of my knowledge, Lidless is having himself banned five days a week in order to get some work done. I doubt very highly that he has been here since last Sunday. I would give things another day or two, and maybe PM him.

Oh and that will be five bucks for the kisses.
