Make sure I'm behind Eltirwen and Sass in the list in the first post of this thread!

Eru,

Technically, you became re-eligible on April 30 for any term that begins after that date.

I think it would be nice to have those who are signing up now receive terms before we start recycling, but if you want to be re-inserted into the list at this point there is no reason not to do that. Remember that we are going through about 25 administrators per year. There's no way that you are not going to have a second term in the immediate future.

Okay, I ended up just copying the order and the date information.

As for Eru's request—I thought we weren't having admins serve again until everyone who wants to and is eligible has served a first term? I assumed that Jn's list of former admins would append to the end of this list, but that because this list will continue to grow, there's no point in actually writing them all in.

Edit: Cross-posted with Jn. I'd love to serve again, too, but I think that at least all the original members who want terms should have them before we start through the former admins again. There should still be time for a few second terms before the newest members start becoming eligible.

Prim - we cross-posted. :)

Having former admin wait until new people get a chance is really only a matter of courtesy. Under the Charter, they should re-enter the list one full term after their own last term of office ended.

I was trying to think how to do a rotation like this, where people are entering and re-entering all the time, and I decided that going strictly by eligibility date is the only fair and unconfusing way to do it.

Which is why I wanted to get this list started before there's an influx of new people. If those like Eru who are technically eligible are willing to use a re-entry later than those who are just now entering, that's fine. If they want to re-enter in strict order, that's fine too. But once the new folks start coming in, I believe that re-entries will have to be done in strict order. Otherwise the former admins will be perpetually moved further down the list - forever and ever, because there will always be new people coming in. Anything other than strict re-entry order will be chaos for the Mayor trying to come up with 'fair' scheduling.

So there will always be some people who will serve two and even three terms before others have served even one. But as the pool grows, repeats will become less frequent.

I noticed that hobby posted that Lalaith and Maiden had volunteered for admin and jury duty. I don't think they have been added to the list in the first post yet.

Right, V. The PM responses have to be sorted in. But we only have to do it by the beginning of July, so that we can schedule the terms beginning Aug. 1.

In fact, I think it would be a good idea - in terms of the whole entry date issue dicussed above - to say that those signing up between now and June 27 will go at the bottom of the list in order of response, and all those who already served terms and became eligible for re-entry before this date, will file in right behind them.

People who sign up after we open, no matter when they actually joined, should have to follow strict entry and re-entry date rules, to minimize the chaos.

I don't have any problem with being on the list after the people who are already here now are put on it. I think that should go for all former admins. But that's where it should stop.

I'm happy with that, Jn. And surprised—I'd thought former admins would go behind everyone, so I expected never to have another term.

Gosh! Someday I just might get to ban a troll. . . .

Eru, I agree. That's where it should stop.

Really? I never did.

My memory is a bit sketchy and I am a bit lazy, but if I remember correctly somewhere in the constitution it states that we will have between 5-7 admins. Shouldn't we go with the 7 starting July 1?
We may get some business during the opening and it may be wise to have too many than not enough.
Any thoughts, or has this been taken care of already?

Why don't we just see how it goes first? I would think 5 would be enough but if the current admins are having a hard time they could give their recommendation that it be bumped up to 7 at the next switch?

Your memory works fine, Holby, and no, this hasn't been brought up. It might be a good idea. It's hard to predict what we're going to need.

Well, I would be putting any PMed requests into the first post here, and I'd guess the same for the others—we aren't maintaining any other list. I don't think anyone's been added in a while.
There were no additions since the 5th, so I was doubtful if I should make additions to the list, but I will now. :)

(Edit: and I was also waiting for Maiden to confirm that she's 18, which she has done now - but I forgot to ask both of them what time zone they are  )

Thanks, Hobby!

btw, by the clock that this board uses, EDT is GMT -4. I had to go back and change all my records. I don't know what will happen when we switch back to regular time.

If people would tell us their native language, that would be helpful, too. Lalaith and Maiden are both English, I know, and Lalaith is GMT -4 as well.

I’d like to rephrase my earlier comment in the form of a question.

Who’s next?

I’m curious because I need to know when to panic.

There are currently seven people in front of me. We will need two new admins ... erm, uh ... rangers, starting July 1 to replace Prim and Hobby according to this thread. Of the seven in front of me, several have stated they are not ready, or the time is not good for them. One may be unavailable dew to personal reasons. To my knowledge several have not replied. In addition to that, we may now need more than two. Which means, well you get the picture.

tinwe - there's a good chance your name will come up for the term beginniing Aug 1. Do you want to practice on the experimental board?

The link is right below us in the thread called "b77 experiment"
Haven't been there yet myself, but my understanding is you just register and some current admin enables your i.d. and you get an admin panel to play with.

If you're really in a panic, you can postpone until the following term, which begins October 1.
