The Mayor should have permissions everywhere, Eru. The only reason you don't is because stupid me asked to have the Mayor restricted so that I wouldn't post under that I.D. thinking I was Jnyusa. I'm a bit of a nitwit with all the user i.d. stuff - have to right down my passwords and look them up every time. But anyway, a Ranger should change your permissions so that you can post everywhere but Sensitive inform.

More - have to answer the phone ...
Jn

OK, sorry 'bout that.

There's supposed to be a Sensitive Mayor's forum, too, where the Mayor can keep track of objections to Members becoming Rangers, Warnings given to Rangers, Formal Complaints against Rangers, Penalties imposed by Juries, and the expiration dates of all those things.

We haven't created the forum yet because we haven't needed it, but once you're inaugurated you should probably get that forum up and running.

Eru - about the welcome letters...

I would write a sort of step-by-step guide - just like the one we have to activating new members - so that future rangers will find the information (e.g. about using the BCC-line) quickly. Then I'd open a new thread here (unless you want to do that yourself and post the info), which we could use for keeping track of the welcome letters sent.

Any objections?

BTW :

I sent a welcome mail to Lilium.

I think a ranger would need to do that write up since they are the ones actually doing it. Since I cannot go through the process I wouldn't feel comfortable about writing it.

The ranger who writes it can then use the Administrator account to start a thread in this forum. Directions could be in the first post and then the thread could be used for correspondence about the welcome emails.

Prim, are you going to be able to get that email to me with the columns of the records copied and pasted into it? I'd rather not have to type out all the records and it would be really easy if I could just copy and paste.

And how's this for further efficiency—I have mislaid your email address.

Would you mind PMing me?

Man, I got out of here just in time.

Eru, I've now emailed you the data.

I wasn't thinking, though—should I also send you the Excel file, in case you have software later on that might open it?

I'm not sure what good that would do. I'll already have my own form of the list.

Mostly it all matched up. Only thing that didn't was some of the greet letter dates. Could you tell me when

quillon
elf-maiden
RandomPasserby
ShanndrahEartheart
Snowdog
Bonita
ILvEowyn
Tasslehoff

had their letters sent?

Only thing I'll have to redo...all the date formats. What you had entered wasn't the same as the screenshots Jn sent me. Weird.

Their welcome letters were all sent on 26 July, Eru.

I'm sorry I missed this post last night—PMing was a good idea. . . .

Areanor,

There's a step-by-step guide to the welcome letters in the Handbook for Rangers. If you want, just copy that and put it into a post of its own in a convenient place.

The guide isn't exactly step-by-step and doesn't mention things like entering the rest of the email addresses in the BCC line.

So, is any ranger going to be nice and write out the steps and start a thread with the Administrator account here?

Eru,

I have created a new sticky thread in this forum titled Instructions / List - Welcome and Ranger / Jury Pool emails. I set it up so that the Mayor will post the list of members to receive the mails each week and the Ranger whose turn it is will post a confirmation. You can check the New Registrants thread in Forum Management to see which members have been activated.

BTW, since you are now officially the Mayor, would you like a new rank for the Mayor’s account? Somehow I don’t think “Primula_Baggins Honorary and Temporary” quite suits you. :D

Thank you so much for doing that tinwe. :) I'll have to think on if I like it as a sticky or not. :P

Yes, changing the title would be good. ;)

Could this post be removed from the Jury, Mediator, and Loremaster Pool thread?

http://www.phpbber.com/phpbb/viewtopic. ... d77#104254

It's not a thread that's meant to be posted in and it breaks up the lists.

Done.

I hope you don't mind, I went ahead and changed your rank. If you'd like something else just let us know.

When the Rangers write up new instructions for the welcome letters, etc., could they paste them into the Ranger Handbook as well? And then PM Alandriel and Axordil so that they will update the geocities site and the pdf version of the handbooks. Thanks!

Jny,

The instructions are in a thread in this forum:
Instructions / List - Welcome and Ranger / Jury Pool emails.

I’d be happy to put them in the Handbook, except, I’m embarrassed to admit, I still don’t know where the official version of the Handbook is. Is it the thread in the Historical forum titled “Administrators Handbookâ€
