Maybe we'll just be struck dumb with awe at the mayor's speech!
I'd better get started on that speech. :uhoh:
I think there can be a bit of applause between the mayor and Alandriel, but no major interruption.
Or. the. sound. of. crickets. chirping. :uhoh:
really better get started on that speech.
Now you're making me all nervous! :Q

I really better get started on that speech

:help:

hmmmm :scratch ....bribes...... Surely there must be a talented speech writer amongst this illustrious company. What can I bribe him/her with?

Goes off to re-read 'A long expected party'

Oh, help! I just agreed to go to Gleneagles on Wednesday! It's not something I want to back out of now- nor would I want to to be honest, but I guess I'm going to have to write all I can right now and send it on to Mossy, who's been far more responsible than me throughout and as such deserves to make the opening posts.

I'm getting mistaken for everyone these days! First Anthy, now Pips. Maybe I need a more distinctive avatar? :help: :D :P

Pips, I have no idea what Gleneagle is, but have fun! PM me what you've written up, and we can talk later today about how it's all going to work, yeah?

I know I haven't been on here a lot for a couple of months (moving and just general day to day stuff keeps me away), but I do want to contribute to the party. I was thinking about drawing a picture that had people of all different nationalities and races (even hobbits and elves) standing in front of a Rivendell-esque house with a banner that says Welcome to Board77!. Would anyone organizing the party be interested in using that? Just let me know! :)

Sidonzo, if you'd like to do that, I'm sure we'd be more than happy to use it. :) That's very kind of you to contribute like that!

Welcome back, btw. It's nice to see you around again.

(Gleneagles is the site of the G8 summit. The leaders of the eight richest nations will be gathering there to discuss world economic issues). No longer going. I had my doubts, but I kept quiet and checked the internet- turned out my parents had their wires crossed. It's the socialists and the anarchists who are marching at Gleneagles on Wednesday; Geldof's "million" already marched.

Shouldn't be up to me to have to check this sort of thing.[/grouch]

Sidonzo, that sounds wicked! :D

Welcome back Sidonzo! :)
Such a pic would be lovely! :D

So, Pips - you'll be around after all? (Bit confused.) (And a bit scared at the idea of Pips marching with the anarchists! :Q )

Yeah hobby, poor anarchists! They don't realise their lucky escape. :D
Should I send artwork in a PM to Mossy or pips? Or both?

Okay, I promised that I would reveal my bit of goofiness on July 3, and despite everything that has happened, I intend to make good on my word. So I present:

The Sador_Labadal Memorial Best-Scene-in-the-Films Poll

I did say it was goofy.

:LMAO:

I'd never have guessed anywhere near that! :D

Thanks for thinking this up, Voronwe. :)

So that's what you've been planning! :D

Ditto what Hobby said. And thanks for going ahead with it despite the issues going on now. :)

Thanks for all of the encouragement guys! I'll have it done by the 5th. Would it be better to email it or PM it? Who wants the picture? Let me know, and I'll get it to you. :)

Yea! I see that Tosh is entering some of his great artwork! By the way I love the Minator (I bet that's not the way it's spelled)!

*sigh*.... I know many of you are planning and inputting and even I have managed to put a semblance of a speech together, however, (and yes I don't mind you shooting me for what I'm about to say):

can we possibly postpone the celebrations?

In light of what's been going on in the thread 'The Problem with board 77' I don't think all that many people are in a party mood. I for one am definitely not.

Could we possibly postpone it until such a time as all the remaining Charter issues have been worked through and are up for the membership vote... or.. until after the membership vote is through?

Sorry to be the party pooper... but I want to hear what you think.

Alandriel, I had been thinking the same thing, and just trying to decide who to approach about it.

Personally, I would rather postpone. I would rather have people just be able to celebrate without worrying about what's going on. Let's get that resolved and go from there.
