Sure, Lidless.

I am sorry that it's not today, but. . . it just didn't work out.

So what's easy to find? The postponement discussion?

That reminds me. . . we should work on setting a date for this thing. Is there a ballpark of when the charter's going to be done? We could plan around that. I'm going to be really selfish here and ask that we hold it before 14 July, if possible.

Ballpark date ... ballpark date ....

Let me do this in EDT in my head:

Tomorrow morning around 8:00 am we will finish the current four votes, and immediately begin discussion of the last 3 + 1 +1. (Three are serious charter additions, one is mainly an approval of cosmetic edits so we have to do that last but it won't take much time, and one is the naming of the charter which hasn't been dicsussed yet.

You don't want to wait for things to be ratified, right? - just finished by the committee and put up for ratification.

So today is the 6th (or the 7th in Europe) and we need on average a week per set of issues and we run more than one issue at a time. So, I'm thinking around the 18th-20th we should be good to go ... perhaps a bit sooner, but I expect the name might require some discussion.

Does that help? I can zero in better when the next three threads come into focus for discussion tomorrow. It sort of depends on how much disagreement there is.

I'm sorry to be difficult, and if this doesn't work for Maiden then obviously we can't do it, but I would rather wait until everything is ratified. What if we have the celebration (which would really be a charter completion celebration more then an opening celebration) and then something doesn't get ratified? I know it probably is unlikely, but I don't think that we can make any assumptions. It just seems to me that if we are going to celebrate the completion of the charter, we should celebrate it when it really is finished. But that would not be until the end of the month at least. Again, if that doesn't work for Mossy, then it simply doesn't work. :)

Thanks, Jn. That is indeed helpful. :)

I *might* be here on the 18th, but right now that's a big maybe. However, I'm just one person. I fully agree that it should be after the Charter is complete. Then we'll have even more to celebrate. Don't work around me. Work around everyone else, and work around the board. :)

Well, once we get the final things up for ratification we will definitely know what date to hold the celebration.

Voronwe, rather than items remaining unratified, I would hope through discussion we will discover and remove the things that are too controversial and at least ratify all that we can. If an amendment committee has to proceed beyond that, I don't think we need to hold up the completion celebration waiting for them to finish.

Give it up Steve, Swiss Germans are an enigma :P :D

As to the party, like the V-man, I'd preferr to wait till ratified though I don't mind Jny's approach at all :)

Pips is apparently banned from using the computer for the next week. Hopefully this will be overturned, but considering what's going on, I'm doubtful that that will happen.

I will be here until the 16 or 17th, and then leaving for a month. I can try to get internet access for the party, but I doubt that will happen.

It's the nineth now, which I'm guessing means that Pips will be back on the 16th. That will give Pips and I one day (hopefully) to finalize my end of things, and she is, I'm sure, capable of handling it without me.

So that's where the committee stands.

The Charter will probably not be done until around the 20th, I'm guessing. Thus, Pips will be here and it will all be all right.

Shall we say for now that the celebration will be on the 21st? We can adjust that date around when the Charter will be completed as needed.

Mossy, we can also wait until August. You're one of the people who deserve to be here!

Thanks, Jn, but I'm not getting back til the 17th. I do very much appreciate the thought. You guys should go ahead and celebrate. :) I'm just one person, and I didn't do that much. Don't wait for me. I'll be here in spirit. :P

I have now put up my new best scene in the films poll here. I would like to announce the winner at this celebration, but that will only work if we wait until at least the middle of August. I don't think the charter will be finally ratified until around then anyway. So I don't see why we shouldn't wait until Mossy gets back to hold the celebration.

Thanks for pointing to this new poll, Voronwe - I had read the old one a few days ago and meant to post, but didn't get round to it.

I won't be around for a great part of August, but I'll be thinking of you guys. :)

Mossy- currently sneaking on and offline like nobody's business. :P But tomorrow I'm off on a DoE expedition for three days, then next Wednesday is the week-long family trip to Ireland.

Lucky you Pipps. You're not visiting Alatar are you? ;)

I have no idea if I get out of London this summer or not so I can't really say. 1st August would be cool though - it's Swiss national day too

erm.. cough... yeah  :halo:

While the end of the ratifications may well be the obvious time for a celebration, particularly because of the valuable and hard work it represents, we could pick other arbitrary events to celebrate. For instance, when we reach 50 or 100 new members or when the first one reaches 100 posts or when the combined new intake reaches say 500 posts. In other words when there is some measurable result in terms of new activity. Just an idea.

I would very much like to finalize the date as soon as possible, because if it's decided to hold the party before I get back (which is perfectly fine), I need to be able to PM all of my stuff to Pips.

Someone (Voronwe?) said that the Charter wouldn't be done until August anyway. Also, that would mean that the new Ultimate Best Scene in the Films Winner announcement could also be part of the official goings-on, which would be quite nice. Thoughts on this?

Tosh, I see your point, and it's a good thought. Considering that a few of the new members have already reached over a 100, it's a bit late for that. ;) I'm not sure if this is what you were getting at, but perhaps we could have a "And we now have X number of new posters, with a cumulative post count of X!" type of thing?
