PIRATES!
Live the life.

Has anyone played this game? It is quite awesome, but I'm having some problems in it.

A. I can't figure out how to do well in the dancing with governor's daughters
B. I don't know how to keep my men happy after 12 months of pirating without dividing the plunder which is sometimes paltry because I've spent so much prior to that.

Anyone?

Oh, man, that takes me back...if they just prettied it up and didn't change the basic algorithms, it may be the same one I played 13 years ago...in which case all I remember is that sloops kick butt, and the cutlass is your best bet if you aren't really a reflex gamer. :D

Actually rapier is best because you can attack before the other guy attacks.

Shandrah--

Yep...same time-wasting, life-sucking SOB. :D

TED--

Ah, but that requires said reflexes. :D Cutlass, you just hold down the key until they stop moving. :D

I've actually never tried the cutlass because I am a reflex gamer. :D And I've never lost a dual yet!

Aaaaah, great game...:D:D

As for dancing, I managed to marry a Beautiful Governor's Daughter of a Dutch city. The trick is to know the keys to every move and see the pattern. Usually starts with a simple sidestep, then a bit of turning, and in the end some combinations to make it even harder. It takes awhile to get used to, but it's actually quite fun.

And I used rapier as well. Always managed to hit my target first...

The thing I found annoying was treasure hunting. I once had to go waaaay inland to find a treasure and it took ages before I found any landmarks.

Then it took even more ages, before I found the landmarks that were on my map.

I quite like the treasure hunting. Maybe it's because I like maps and read them easily.

I actually need to get back to playing Pirates! more. I've stopped for a little while.

Once upon a time, I would contend that Civ 2 was the best game ever made. Though it's been ages since I've played it or since I've really gotten into a game more than casually, I'd bet that's likely still the case.
