******IMPORTANT EDIT 1/21/06********
In late 2005 I learned that Mike/aka. Lucy is still alive. The person who emailed me in August telling me that Lucy had died was, in fact, Lucy himself. For my part, I would not wish him "dead" again for all the world, but I appreciate that this news may meet with a wide range of emotions. For the time being, I am going to leave all my posts exactly as they were, but with this important disclaimer and update.

I received an email this morning informing me that Mike P. (aka thedaimonlucifer), a one time M00bie poster on TORC, passed away on Saturday of complications of metastatic lymphoma.

Mike had been very sick for a long time. I know that he was a troubled individual with an explosive personality, but he was also a highly gifted and intelligent human being capable of the deepest reflection, consideration, and humanity. His spicy, wickedly funny and articulate posts were a highlight during the heyday of M00bies -- among other things he was the originator of the infamous "Memento Thread" and wrote a virtuoso comic character depiction of The Dark Lord Sauron in the second MoME pageant. I never met Mike in person, but I am fiercely proud and honored to have known him even slightly through this intangible and fleeting medium of the internet. I owe him a great debt for all the words that he shared with me and I'm shocked by this news and at a loss for further reflection.

My email is NerdanelWise@aol.com should anyone wish to contact me, however I really don't have any more information at this time. If I do receive any further information that I believe should be shared I will do so here.

With all sincerity,

Tinsel.

Tinsel,

Do you know if Mike had family in the CA area?

Wow. I'm so sorry to hear that.

I didn't know him at all; or, more accurately, he didn't know me. I really enjoyed ready his posts back in my lurker days. He was always a colorful and interesting contributer, and I missed him when he left.

It's a true loss.

I don't believe so. He was living in CA, but he was originally from Cincinatti and I believe that any remaining immediate family members are probably there. I emailed his friend who informed me and asked for any information about a service, etc. -- I'll let you know if I receive a response.

Anthy if it is any consolation, I thought he did not know who I was either. But then when I emailed him, he said he had uh, kept up with TORC. So he may have known exactly who you were. :)

Even though it was expected, it's still horrible to hear when it finally happens :(

Thank you, Mike, for the enjoyment you bought so many people.

An original, the likes of which I doubt I shall see again in my lifetime.

:( I am truly saddened to hear that he has lost the battle with that dread disease. May he be at peace and free from pain at last.

a truly bright spark who shone all too briefly - funny thing is on Sunday, I thought it was about time I mailed him again.

Don't know if anyone has copeis of some of the stuff that he wrote - a couple of bits pasted here would be a nice tribute - preferably his most irreverent irascable stuff.

We are diminished by the loss of someone who brought such energy to discussions. Tinsel, if you (or anyone else!) can find out anything about funeary arrangements, I would be very grateful. Perhaps we could get together and send flowers or whatever is appropriate...
