Yup. My part of Michigan didn’t hit 90 (32.2C) once in July, and based on forecasts, it may not happen in August either.

It's in the 90s here with heat indices in the 100s up to 117. (That's coming up on Thursday.) The air quality sucks too.

The highest heat index this week so far has been 125 F / 51.7 C

Unpleasant, to say the least. :( Two more days to go and then it is supposed to drop to more normal August heat levels.

51.7 C? Is that the actual temperature or a formula like "humidex" that's supposed to represent the perceived temperature?

Do they not use the concept of a "heat index" where you're from? It's supposed to represent the temperature that it feels like as opposed to the actual thermometer temperature.

Humidex is the same thing as heat index. I think I like the word humidex better, actually. Heat index implies that something is actually that hot when it isn't.

The actual temperatures this summer (here) haven't been above 105 F /40.6C yet. The humidity, though, after the drought eased up, makes it pretty steamy outside.

Right now at 8:30 am, the humidity is at 85% while the temp is 82F. It grimly amuses me when the humidity number is higher than the actual temperature. The heat index/ humidex is 94F already. It's going to be a bad one.

Yesterday snuck one by us and beat forecasts to hit 95. Hottest day of the summer so far, and may manage to hang on to that title (though September is always a weird month).

After a beautiful cool August (when it wasn't tornadoing) we've gone back up to 30C in September.

Let's hope this is just a temporary blip.

We were having a lovely fall, but now the smoke from Oregon wildfires got here and the air is kind of awful. PurpleAir shows air quality index at near 200. :(

Me: it's only October, and we already had TWO days of rain!

National Weather Service: concerning, rainfall is extremely below average for October (10-15% in my vicinity)

I don't know how many years they are averaging, because I can't remember the last year when the creeks were running at all in October.

Huh. Just yesterday I was thinking “it’s only October, and we’ve already had TWO days of snow!”

It's extra hot here, this week. A high of 80F /26.7C. That's pretty weird for this part of the planet.

Interesting. It's really cold here, hovering around zero.

It's been warm here, too (75). Some rain coming in tonight so cool it off, but the 50s are still nice this time of year.

Snow and freezing rain overnight, and this morning the roads are ice. I'm really thankful that I'm not commuting today.

What would it take to go dog sledding?

We got our first real storm. It was less of a storm than initially expected but we did get some bursts of power wash strength rain.

Got a notice from HR this morning saying the gas utility has ordered them to immediately reduce temperatures in all buildings by 5F until further notice because they're worried about supply levels. This has become something of regular occurrence, but it's just baffling to me:
-The 2020 supply chain issues no longer apply
-Temperatures in the teens Fahrenheit in January in Michigan are 100% normal and predictable
-December was abnormally warm, so stocks should be running above predictions

Baffling. What's the new mandated temperature? Is it too cold?
