Oh gosh no. I may be young, but I would never permanently mark my body in a way i won't be able to hide in 20 years, just for the sake of a trend, or to rebel against my parents or gain 'status' or any of that bullcrap. Body mutilation for that purpose is for idiots. I'm not really into tattoos or extreme facial piercings, and neither are my friends, so I wouldn't be following a trend anyway. i'm really quite a good girl.
I know older women who used to have their nose pierced, and all you can see of it now is a tiny brown dot the size of a pinhead. It looks like a freckle.
I just thought a little diamond might look pretty, that's all. I think if people want to get piercings or tattoos, it should be for the same reason women wear makeup - to enhance what they already have, not to make a statement.
I made the joke about Dawnnamira's campus because rules like that are absolutely unheard of here - i live in a hall of residence at the minute, and the only rules are: keep it down after 11pm on weeknights, and keep your kitchens tolerably clean. It just seems bizarre to me.
