Got into a discussion recently about what songs are the most beautiful to set the mood for valentines Day or any other romantic event. I opted for "Somewhere" from WEST SIDE STORY while others favored "The Way You Look Tonight", "Bridge Over Troubled Waters" and "Y...

One of the truly greatest films of all time was METROPOLIS - the Fritz Lang classic. Today - Feb 12 during the early afternoon it will be streamed over the net with an additional one hour of footage which was thought to be lost. This is an amazing event and we can only hope it will be followed by a ...

Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley wrote a book which speaks to this issue. Maybe somebody should have read it during the last two centuries? my favorite line from the Kay piece on the Nashville convention was this The tea partiers' tricornered hat is supposed to be a symbol of patriotism and constitutiona...

The reporting that focused on the Tea Party Nation convention last weekend in Nashville sadly only reported on the speech of Sarah Palin. There has been little coverage going beyond that single event. Now NEWSWEEK has a very good article written by a Canadian conservative who was there as a paid par...

Excellent observation LM. I would love to see 100 people interviewed at random on the street and ask them to identify either of the two men in question after you provided their names. I am guessing that less than 2 people would recognize either of them. But with the Austrians and their political all...

Lord Morningstar House minority leader John Boehner claimed during a radio appearence that there are "no major differences" between the beliefs of the tea party crowd and the GOP. There has been lots of coverage of the Tea Party convention at Opryland this weekend. The speech delivered by ...

Dave
it is too bad the three nominations from message board websites I submitted were not honored. :D They would have taken the ranking to new heights..... or depths depending on how you want to look at it.

This is rich. Sarah Palin bragging on her facebook page about how her speaking at the Tea Party Convention is being done with no financial gain to herself. I will not benefit financially from speaking at this event. My only goal is to support the grassroots activists who are fighting for responsible...

A pretty detailed survey has been done offering what self proclaimed Republicans do and do not believe in.

I loved the fact that the President of the United States took on the Republicans at their retreat, kicked ass, took names and bested them in front of a national TV audience. It reminded me of Jimmy Stewart in MR. SMITH GOES TO WASHINGTON getting all righteous and lecturing them on their duties and r...

Impenitent I would go with San Francisco over LA anytime. LA is a souless place that is nothing compared to San Francisco. I was just there for five days in September. Stayed at the Donatello Hotel - which has a website. http://www.shellhospitality.com/hotels/donatello_hotel/index.html?chebs=gl_dona...

Until something is done about the effects of Proposition 13 on the ability of the state of California to deal with this crisis, it is just band-aids and make-up. That is the straight jacket the state finds itself it and it is constricting the breath out of the population. Until that straight jacket ...

I fully realize that Keith Olbermann is not universally loved by all here. But tonight he had a commentary on the Court decision that every thinking person should listen to - at least once. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/3036677/#34985508 He wisely points out the effects of this, both in the short and ...

Lalaith if you could cite what you think is wrong about that article, I would certainly listen to your side of the story. Saying you suspect something might be biased is a long way from showing and proving that same bias. I am sure that Paul has reasons he can voice against this vote. They may even ...

Thanks for clarifying that Lalaith. If that article is factually in error in reporting that Ron Paul voted against honoring Rosa Parks with the medal I would be eager to read it and issue a retraction. I would also edit my post to remove any false information.
