Though we'd probably disagree on some of the details, I would also rate it in the 6ish/C-ish range.
I never expected it to be much more than an elaborate fanfic. The mold was set by PJ twenty years before to be just that. Considering the allowable usage of canon, the estate involvement, and such, I was surprised it turned out that good.

I'm endlessly baffled by productions that will spend hundreds of millions of dollars to get the best, most high-end visual effects and design teams in the world, but then hire a writing team to create dialogue that sounds like it's written by some local college students.
