Alas, these films that I was mixed on back when they came out, are pretty much unwatchable to me these days. Maybe because I have read the books a half-dozen times and have watched the EE series a few times since 2007, with the last full watching in 2014 or thereabouts after the disastrous Hobbit films. I think the last attempt we made to watch our EE DVDs was in 2016. I think we watched some of them when they started streaming. The creation of the LotR movies was the catalyst that led to Elora and I meeting on TORc, and for that, they will always have a special mention in our life stories.
She wanted to toss the DVDs when we moved, and I, the packrat that I am, held onto them so they could be stored in a box in the shed. Well, a couple weeks ago I went searching for a particular DVD to watch and while doing so, found small black ants crawling around in the box. Sorted the DVDs and found that the queen thought a perfect place for her nest was in the slip case for the LotR DVDs. All three plastic cases housed thousands of them. So, in the bin they went. So ended my attachment to these movies that started in 1999 when I first heard they were being made. Doubt I'll ever watch them again. Maybe bits between commercial breaks on free-to-air TV here and there, but that will be about it.
