Just here to state, clearly and unequivocally, that wilko remains the TOLKIEN GEEK KING!!despite such small slips of memory.

with the exception of Romestamo, of course, who will always be Master.
Even just on this Ireland moot I think there were people both geekier and/or more erudite than myself, but who may not have felt the need to lodge several thousand posts in TORC's Books forum in order to demonstrate the fact :). But I remain the King of looking up facts on my computer when I get home :D.

[Though of course, Rom is indeed the Master, as far as I have ever seen in online Tolkien fora]

Your not wrong there, the level of knowlage some people had in that gathering astounds and intimidates.

...and I am sure the Sarn Ford thing was just a slip, blame the Guiness ;)

Still sad I missed the nakid elves...er, I mean the Gil Galad sculpture thing.

More pictures

Unfortunately, I didn't realize that my flash was turned off almost the entire m00t, so the vast majority of the banquet pics didn't turn out, and a lot of the daylight pics came out as silhouettes. A couple of them I tried to adjust the lighting so they would show as normal pics rather than silhouettes, but I'm on a lot of drugs right now, and don't know how well I did with that :blackeye: Also, most of them are faintly blurry.....

Who wants to give me a new camera for my birthday? ;)

Estel, I just love the pic of Satch innocent-looking - it's really gorgeous.

JUDE :D :LMAO: :damnfunny:
great caption.

:P I would have known where Sarn Ford is....

Hobby, great tree pics. I do envy all the monday mooters, I would have loved to see Killarney park and the mithril factory.

a quick after-moot report.

I broke my glasses on Saturday morning, just by pulling a sweater over my head. I do this all the time without taking my glasses of, now the frame is broken. Fixed it with tape during the moot.

On Monday, I went right to the optician. There I was told they could fix it, but not here, because they can't solder it here, the glasses must be sent away. I asked "how long might it take"... guess what... TEN DAYS. :Q

I asked how I was to work without glasses and all I earned was a shrug of shoulders. Ah well, I got new ones then. New frame 120 EUR, new glasses 290 EUR, makes 410 EUR. Okay, now they have an offer, so I only have to pay half for the frame, makes 350 EUR still. The best thing is, I have an insurance for the glasses, expiring on April, 15th. So get I another 150 EUR, leaving me with 200 EUR for the new glasses.

I'm really glad the frame broke at the moot and not next month. :D

(though I still wear the taped ones as the new one takes two weeks to arrive, too.)

Oh, and fixing the old ones would cost 40 EUR. By accepting an other offer for "substitute glasses - buy two, pay one full, the other only partly" I get a second pair of glasses (all new and shiny and with a new insurance police) for 60 EUR. :D
