The toilet cake doesn't bother me, but the melting head ..... :spider: Not a chance. I just wouldn't be able to taste that one. Not even if it were made gluten free especially for me! :nono:

Maybe I need to change more diapers and you need to watch more horror movies. :uhoh:

Or, ya'know, tread carefully around these scary cake artists. :P

I think it's the melting, gooey drippy part that grosses me out the most about the head cake. If the center of the toilet cake was filled with slimy goo, I'd have to agree with you. As it is, I could easily ignore the lid and cut off a piece of the side that would just look like normal cake.

There's no way to do that with the melting head cake. It's all putrid looking. And slimey. And generally not edible looking.

And maybe I have seen one or two too many actual rotting animal corpses. When they get to the melting, fall apart stage, it's just horrible. Aside from the smell, the insect life is particularly appallling.

There's a touch the horror cake artists didn't think of! They could have had some kind of small candy in there that expands and wiggles on heating to simulate maggots.

It could be worse.....

I think that's one of the grossest things I've read in a long time.

:P

Overall, I thought it was gross, but kinda neat. A lot of effort went into it, anyway, and it was a neat effect. Just....ewww.... :P

:)

I would guess the wings are made of fondant. Most of these spectacular cakes are made from fondant nowadays. (It's beautiful but tastes nasty. :nono: )

Oh, that sucks to hear! I love watching stuff like Cake Boss, and everything is made of fondant yeah. Go figure these works of art are technically edible but only in the sense that you won't be poisoned lol.

I do wonder why making these fancy sculpture "cakes" has become such a popular thing recently when no one would want to eat them. If you wanna make a sculpture no one will eat, why not use regular materials?

Also, I don't think Smaug would sit around in a pile of puke like that. Smaug seems classier than that.

Blue, orange, yellow.
A cheerful makeover for
the eye of Sauron.

Gah, I thought that was supposed to look like someone having a water birth. Why am I not surprised it ended up being Sauron's eye.

4. I love zombies, but while that couple is bad-ass, you don't want to eat the infected, and should probably avoid getting their blood on you, so the chainsaws and cake seem like a bad idea.

7. I hope this was a true collaboration and not from a couple like in the 5th cake. :P The "mister" and "missus" face-huggers are too cute. Bet it was a Halloween wedding. Here's my gift:

[ img ]

11. Childish but cute.

13. Jaw-dropping.

16. Rainbow Road!!!! :w00t:

19. The mustache detail lol.

21. Theme FAIL. At least everyone dressing up as him at Halloween made sense. Only redeemable if the bride was dressed as Nurse Joker. :P

29. The female ghostbuster is what takes this out of ~shameful nerd~ category and into awww! territory. Bonus points for Staypuft being an edible character in the film too.

On a separate note, I question how many "wedding cakes" were actually used for weddings. Just because it's tiered, doesn't mean it's for nuptials! (Right?) There's a difference between dressing in a Star Wars costume for conventions, and wearing it to your wedding. So yeah, part of what horrifies me about some cakes is thinking they were used at a wedding. If it was just a birthday or party event, no biggie.
