Hello, everyone! I miss having Middle-earth-based chat, so I'm back. I'm also avoiding my Hebrew homework right now, because it manages to be both difficult and full of annoyingly superfluous explanations. I decided to review some Quenya on the way home from class the other day, because Ardalambion explains Quenya better than an actual textbook explains Hebrew!

I recommend anything you're familiar with in your own language. Are you learning Biblical or Modern Hebrew? If Biblical, choose Bible passages that are familiar to you. If Modern, look up children's stories or comics on the internet.

If you want Biblical Hebrew in context, I can recommend the services here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCyeI99 ... 2kp33Ng_NQ The Shacharit services have fully bilingual liturgy (plus teaching in English), while the family services are mostly English. FYI, that is an extremely unusual synagogue.

Estel, modern Hebrew. I've been practicing my reading on prayer book, but there is a distinct lack of texts on vacuum cleaning and restaurant menus. And the language changes, of course.

Fortunately, I still have my textbooks from Hebrew class in University. I remember some of the dialogues being lively and amusing. Is this the sort of thing you're looking for?

I can't say as I have any fun dialogues in my course so far. Come to think of it, my textbook is very dry (though I usually like that for languages - rules first). All I can suggest is looking up children's stories or travel phrases online.

Thanks, Jude, that PDF is great. I don't quite have the vocabulary to read it, but I get the gist. I love that part of language acquisition.
